International law firm, Wragge & Co LLP, is on track to make the move to its new Birmingham premises with the appointment of Wates Construction and Rider Levett Bucknall to deliver the high quality fit-out of the offices at Two Snowhill.
The work will see the international law firm occupy eight of the 14 floors available at the new Grade A office building. The development sits at the heart of Birmingham's central business district and forms part of the £500m phased redevelopment of Snowhill.
The project's main contractor, Wates, will commence the fit-out this month, with Rider Levett Bucknall acting as quantity surveyor for the works. Completion is scheduled for summer 2014.
Work will include the provision of 16,500 sq m of furnished 1,800-capacity office space that will have a BREEAM rating of Excellent.
The project will also include the installation of a state-of-the-art client suite and business lounge, seminar and well-being suites, restaurant and training academy. It has been designed to create modern and motivating surroundings for Wragge & Co’s people and clients.
Wates has committed to ensuring the work will help to boost the local economy and provide employment opportunities. The contractor will work in partnership with Wragge & Co to appoint local subcontractors and suppliers to help facilitate delivery of the project.
Wragge & Co managing partner Ian Metcalfe said: "This is a once-in-a-generation project to create a stunning and efficient working environment, enabling our people to deliver excellent client service from exceptional surroundings. We are working with firms whose focus on client service, people and community match ours. I look forward to this next stage of the project."
Phil Harrison, Managing Director for Wates Construction Midlands and North, commented: "Birmingham is undergoing a period of significant investment, both commercially and publicly, and we are delighted to be continuing our role in the city's ever-changing landscape through our appointment to this exciting project for Wragge and Co. Not only is the firm's move evidence of the successful rejuvenation of the City’s Gateway, but it will also act as a catalyst for regional economic growth through the appointment of local SME subcontractors and suppliers."
