In this year's East Midlands Directors of the Year Awards, Stephen Martin, Chief Executive of the North Lincolnshire based Clugston Group, was announced as the overall IoD East Midlands Director of the Year and also winner of the Large Business company category.

At a luncheon held at Nottingham Trent University and attended by 120 business people, Stephen was chosen from the 14 finalists, all of whom were recognised for their business excellence and entrepreneurial skills in a number of categories.


Stephen was acknowledged as overall winner for the turnaround in Clugstons fortunes over the past two years. After a spell when the impact of the recession was challenging the Companies core activities in construction, logistics and property , the Group had identified new markets and opportunities and delivered significant improvements in both turnover and margin.

Ron Lynch, IoD East Midlands Regional Director said: "Our judges have been impressed by Stephen's drive and determination in what is still a testing economic environment. This has been an exceptional year in terms of the overall quality of entrants and Stephen will now go forward to represent our region in the national finals in October."
