Affordable housing specialist Lovell has been selected by First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) as one of the contractors working to improve the homes and communities of Oldham.

The four year programme will see the refurbishment of hundreds of properties in FCHO's portfolio of 12,000 homes.

Lovell has been chosen as part of a contractor framework of 14 North-West based companies. The programme of works, worth a total of £90 million, will include kitchen and bathroom replacements, electrical rewiring and heating upgrades, as well as external improvements and communal area upgrades such as painting and repairs.

FCHO is responsible for managing, letting, repairing and modernising properties that were previously owned by Oldham Borough Council prior to the Stock Transfer earlier this year. The refurbishment contract is part of a £149 million improvement programme that will see properties and estates improved and modernised.

Nigel Yates, Regional Director at Lovell said: "We are thrilled to be one of the selected contractors working on such an important improvement programme for FCHO in Oldham. The four-year contract will see significant upgrades to existing housing and local people will see major benefits to their community."

Cath Green, Chief Executive at FCHO says: "Local people will benefit from the millions of pounds we are investing in our properties, and we need top quality partners on board to ensure our improvement programme is a success.

"The contractors have undergone a rigorous selection procedure and FCHO customers have been involved throughout. Lovell has a strong track record of being able to deliver a quality service, and we look forward to working together."
