Household Automation Complete BBC-featured Project

Construction News Image
Household automation recently finished a project featured on the BBC's 'To build or not to build' program.

The program (Series 2, episode 13) hosted by TV presenter Kristian Digby was screened last week and is still available on iplayer.

The owners Mr and Mrs Black employed Household Automation at the early stages of planning to ascertain their overall requirements. The set up included distribution of High definition (HD) TV including SKY HD to multiple locations using Vision HD baluns and matrix switch; a high end Comfort home control system (incorporating security and door entry) and Sonos multi-room audio, all in addition to the standard telephone and

network connections.

One of the impressive features of the comfort system is that when the occupants are away from the house and the security system is armed, anybody pressing the door phone is immediately connected through to the couples mobile phones enabling deliveries to be left and guests to be re-directed. In the event of an intruder the reverse happens - the system dials out. Dial out is also enabled when the mains power is cut or when the back up battery is due for renewal.

The CAT6 infrastructure of the house will enable future expansion of the home automation system. Vitrum lighting, iphone or ipad apps, gate and garage door control are all readily expandable add-ons to the new property.
