ISG Jackson has successfully completed a £7.3 million project to enhance facilities at Bishop Stopford's School in Enfield, Middlesex.
Pupils and staff at the specialist mathematics and computing school are now making full use of the new Design Technology and English building, as well as a Post-16 Learning Centre and modern canteen.
The challenging project encompassed both new build and refurbishment elements, with ISG Jackson carefully scheduling the works to enable the school to remain fully operational throughout the duration of the scheme. Intelligent project planning resulted in staff and students taking phased possession of newly created facilities, enabling refurbishment of recently vacated areas of the school.
The redevelopment included the construction of a part two-storey Design Technology and English building and the creation of a new school entrance area. The new Design Technology and English building accommodates twelve classrooms and a large open plan CDT studio, whilst the redesigned main entrance features an impressive glazed atrium and enhanced accessibility thanks to the installation of a lift.
The existing sixth form building has been reconfigured and fitted out to provide an all day cafeteria style canteen, with a new two-storey Post-16 Learning Centre providing additional teaching rooms and a large open plan common room.
Ian Gifford, director of ISG Jackson’s Public division, commented: "Effective communication has played a valuable role in the success of this highly complex project, with the site team in constant dialogue with the school to minimise the impact of the work. The project serves as an outstanding example of what can be achieved through a truly collaborative working approach, with both client and contractor working together to deliver a high quality solution."
