GOLDBECK Commits To Schools’ Partnership To Inspire Cardiff’s Future Construction Talent

Construction News Image

Working in partnership with 2B Enterprising, GOLDBECK will partner with three schools across Cardiff for an initial three-year period, with the ambition of creating a lasting legacy in the communities where it continues to deliver major regional projects, with the completion of a new multi-story car park at Central Quay plus undertaking a new multi-story car park construction at Atlantic Wharf.

The schools involved in the programme are Ysgol GG Glan Morfa, Ysgol GG Hamadryad, and Adamsdown Primary School, supporting Year 3 and Year 4 pupils aged between seven and nine.

As part of the initiative, colleagues from across the GOLDBECK team will deliver at least three educational sessions each year at every school.

These sessions will introduce pupils to key enterprise skills and topics including the construction industry, careers within GOLDBECK, practical workplace safety through toolbox talks and the wider opportunities available across engineering, design and the built environment.

The programme has been designed to help children understand how industries such as construction shape the communities around them, while also supporting teachers with practical enterprise and employability-focused learning resources developed by 2B Enterprising.

Importantly, the partnership reflects GOLDBECK’s wider commitment to investing in the places where it works, not simply through construction projects, but by creating long-term value for local communities.

Matthew Creeden for GOLDBECK, said: “Construction is about more than the buildings we leave behind. It’s also about the impact we create within the communities around us. By working with schools in Cardiff, we want to help young people understand the opportunities that exist within our industry and hopefully inspire future careers, confidence and curiosity from an early age. This is an investment in community, education and legacy and something we hope will continue to grow over the coming years.”

Colleagues from across the business will contribute to the programme, sharing knowledge from different parts of the construction sector, with opportunities for external partners and stakeholders to also support sessions in the future, including regional organisations connected to GOLDBECK’s work in Cardiff.

The first session is scheduled to take place on the 29th June, marking the start of what is expected to become a long-term partnership with the schools and wider community.

Through this partnership, GOLDBECK aims to create a lasting relationship with local schools, helping to inspire young people while making a meaningful contribution to education and the wider Cardiff community.
