Infrastructure solutions company Costain has secured spots on two separate framework contracts with London Gatwick.
The airport's Civils Framework and Buildings Framework comprise a variety of capital projects designed to upgrade and modernise infrastructure, accommodate rising passenger demand, and improve resilience. Both frameworks are scheduled to run for a four-year period, with the potential for a two-year extension.
Costain will utilise its expertise in delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions to assist London Gatwick's major capital investment programme. This work will focus on boosting the airport's operational efficiency, capacity, sustainability, and resilience across multiple design and construction projects located both airside and landside.
Jonathan Willcock, Managing Director of Transportation at Costain, commented: "Increasing UK airports' capacity and enhancing the passenger experience will unlock regional and national economic growth, boost trade, and secure the country's position as a major international transport hub. We're working closely with London Gatwick and our supply chain partners to deliver the essential infrastructure upgrades that will enhance the airport's operations and thereby create a more prosperous UK."
This appointment strengthens Costain's expanding presence within the aviation sector, where it currently provides infrastructure services and asset renewal projects for the three largest airport operators in the UK. Alongside its new responsibilities at London Gatwick, Costain is currently delivering the new baggage systems infrastructure at Heathrow Terminal 2. Furthermore, the company is designing critical civils upgrades at Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands airports for Manchester Airports Group.
