Final Phase Of Kingsmere To Deliver 72 Homes And A Care Home

Construction News Image

Bicester is set to see the completion of the Kingsmere development, with Countryside Properties (Bicester) Ltd securing planning approval for 72 new homes and a 75-bed care home as part of the scheme’s final phase.

Thirty per cent of the new homes will be delivered as affordable housing, providing a mix of options for local residents.

Kingsmere forms part of the wider South West Bicester development, located between Middleton Stoney Road and Oxford Road. The overall site was granted outline planning permission in 2008 for up to 1,585 homes, alongside employment space, schools, a local centre, community facilities, and supporting infrastructure. Construction began in July 2010, and the development has since been largely completed, with this final site marking the last remaining parcel.

Work on the new homes and care facility is expected to begin in 2027.

James Harkin, Head of Vistry Strategic Land, said: "This approval means we can move forward with a practical and deliverable solution for the final phase of Kingsmere, completing a well‑established and successful community in Bicester. The approved plans will make an important contribution to local housing delivery, including affordable homes and specialist elderly care, while ensuring continued investment in healthcare provision elsewhere in the town."
