Skanska UK has appointed industry veteran Lee Marks as Executive Vice President, effective Monday 16 March.
On joining, he will undertake a phased induction across Skanska's global and UK operations before assuming his Executive Vice President duties to lead the company’s Building business this summer.
President & CEO Katy Dowding said: "Lee brings more than 35 years' construction industry experience, including at executive level, combined with a strong desire to join Skanska based on the strength of our brand and values. It's great to have him on-board.
"Lee is passionate and fully committed to collaborative ways of working, so we can work together to deliver the very best outcomes for customers. We'll benefit from the new perspectives that Lee will bring to the business and I'm very much looking forward to working with him as a member of our Executive Management Team."
The appointment underpins Skanska's expansion across the building and infrastructure markets. Marks will succeed Terry Muckian as Executive Vice President for the Building business; Muckian will then take executive responsibility for Skanska's Infrastructure operations and Cementation Skanska, which is led by Managing Director Andy Entwistle.
The changes allow Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Adam McDonald to focus fully on his commercial responsibilities.
"These changes are part of a carefully managed transition of responsibilities that we set in motion in October last year," added Katy. "It will ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities and stability for our customers. We are really excited for the opportunities ahead."
Marks has held several senior roles, most recently as Chief Operating Officer at international facade specialist Permasteelisa Group. Earlier in his career he was Group Executive Director at NG Bailey and served as Commercial Director at Laing O’Rourke and Galliford Try.
Commenting on his appointment, Lee said: "Skanska has a strong reputation and is well known across the industry for its values driven approach to business. This was a key motivator for me in wishing to join Skanska, alongside the breadth of its expanding portfolio – such as the recent appointment to the New Hospitals Framework. I'm very much looking forward to getting started."
