A project to double the capacity of Bluebell House, a state-of-the-art learning hub for Stirling's young people with additional support needs (ASN), has reached a major milestone.
Located within the grounds of Bannockburn High School, the centre currently caters for up to 24 pupils and includes classrooms, nurture nooks, a sensory room and a GP room, alongside facilities for staff and administration.
Opened for the start of term in August 2025, the expansion will increase provision to 48 places.
The timber frame for the extension was completed this month, signalling the build is on schedule, with the enlarged facility expected to welcome staff and additional pupils from August 2026.
Social Work and Education Convener, Cllr Bob Buchanan said: "I'm delighted to see the pace of progress on the extension to Bluebell House which is already proving to be an excellent facility for young people with additional support needs.
"Doubling the capacity of this learning hub will help respond to the needs of pupils and their families. It reaffirms Stirling Council's commitment to investing and enhancing our education estate and ensuring the best outcomes for our children and young people.
"I'm excited to see the work continuing on the extension of Bluebell House and can’t wait to see it welcome more young people upon its completion."
Construction on the extension began in September 2025. The second phase is estimated to cost £4.3 million, funded through the Education core capital programme, bringing total investment in the facility to £9.4 million.
The Design and Build contract is being delivered by Hub East Central Scotland Ltd, with Ogilvie Construction as the main contractor.
Grier Edmead, Operations Director, Ogilvie Construction, said: "The site team have made excellent progress since work started on site last year and will now move on to external envelope work and internal fit out as they work towards completion this summer."
