Murphy has expanded its low-carbon plant fleet with the addition of two 23-tonne SANY SY215E electric excavators, supporting its efforts to reduce environmental impact while boosting fuel and operational efficiency across the business.
The excavators operate with zero emissions and low noise. Each unit is fitted with a state-of-the-art, cobalt-free Lithium Iron Phosphate CATL battery, which is described as environmentally friendly and less toxic, and incorporates fuel-efficient technology capable of reducing fuel costs by up to 10%.
Battery performance allows for 6–8 hours of operation, with rapid charging to 80% in around one hour, helping to deliver a full day’s productivity. The SANY models also feature an optimised positive flow hydraulic system that can improve operating efficiency by as much as 5%.
Brendan Sugrue, Plant and Transport Managing Director at Murphy said: "At Murphy, we are dedicated to improving operational efficiency and sustainability amongst our plant equipment. We proactively seek out solutions with low energy consumption and limited CO2 emissions.
"These new SANY excavators, which produce zero emissions, align perfectly with our ever-growing range of environmentally friendly plant equipment. Using lower carbon technologies is key to our Never Harm value and our commitment to leaving a positive legacy in the communities we work in."
