Morgan Sindall Construction South, working in partnership with local social enterprise Karuna Action, has established its first Community Quad at Karuna Coffee House in Aldershot.
The company typically provides a dedicated site cabin to act as a Knowledge or Community Quad when delivering major projects. On this occasion, the South team chose to support an existing community hub, raising an initial £3,500 sponsorship to help with running costs and ensure the space remains available to local organisations free of charge.
This initiative reflects Morgan Sindall Construction's commitment to creating community spaces on all projects valued at over £10 million procured through the Southern Construction Framework (SCF). The Quad was first set up alongside the Stanhope Primary School project and will continue to support future schemes, including Alderwood Senior School, which is under construction until summer 2026. That project will contribute a further £3,500 sponsorship to Karuna Action.
Clifford Kinch, Area Director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the South, said: "We're extremely proud to launch our first Community Quad at Karuna Coffee House. This initiative creates a meaningful, long-term relationship with the community rather than a temporary presence.
"It's truly gratifying to see how the space is already benefiting numerous local organisations and hope our investment helps Karuna Action attract even more community groups to their amazing facility."
Jessica Cathcart at Karuna Action, added: "The partnership with Morgan Sindall Construction has been transformative for us. Their investment has allowed us to continue offering our spaces rent-free to the numerous community groups who rely on our facilities every day.
“Morgan Sindall Construction recognises the value of investing in the community, we look forward to continuing this relationship through their upcoming projects."
The Community Quad at Karuna Coffee House offers flexible space across multiple floors. A room sponsored by Morgan Sindall Construction South is used exclusively by NHS Surrey and Borders Partnership to provide free counselling for schoolchildren aged 11 and above. Other spaces support adult counselling, maths and ESOL tuition, pottery workshops, nutrition and fitness programmes, and regular sessions run by Mind to promote mental health and wellbeing.
