Galliford Try, in collaboration with GHD, has received the Merit Award for Innovation and Technical Excellence at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) East Midlands Awards.
The award celebrates the development of a pioneering Shaft Automation Tool, introduced as part of the Storm Spill Reduction Programme. This innovative digital solution simplifies complex hydraulic calculations, improves project efficiency, and enhances delivery reliability.
The Storm Spill Reduction Programme is a key component of Yorkshire Water's £1.5 billion investment strategy to significantly cut storm overflow discharges. The programme supports a broader goal of improving the environmental quality of rivers and coastal waters across the UK over the next five years.
Matthew Brown, Delivery Manager at Galliford Try, said: "We're delighted to be recognised for the collaborative innovation behind this solution. Our teams consistently strive to deliver smarter, safer, and more sustainable infrastructure — and this award is a testament to their talent and commitment."
