Vistry Group has announced its first collaboration with Placefirst for the construction of 139 homes at Redruth Road in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Once built, the homes will be managed by Placefirst for long-term rent, with a focus on fostering community engagement and maintaining high construction standards.
The development, located on a 9.8-acre site previously owned by Mansfield District Council, has received full planning permission for 156 new homes. The site will feature a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes, as well as one-bedroom maisonettes, all designed to ensure excellent connectivity through the development to the surrounding area.
This marks Placefirst's second venture in the East Midlands, following the acquisition of 34 homes in Corby last year. The new project also highlights Vistry’s commitment to supporting local communities, with a contribution of £536,869 to local services. This includes funding for healthcare (£91,576), education (£90,322), and roads and transport (£318,062), as well as the addition of public amenities like a leap and trim trail and playground equipment.
In line with modern construction practices, Vistry will use modern methods of construction (MMC) to reduce the carbon footprint of each home. The properties will be built using open panel timber frames, manufactured off-site at Vistry Works East Midlands in Leicestershire, reducing CO2 emissions by 14,460kg per home compared to traditional brick-and-block construction.
