Work is underway on a project to provide new homes for individuals facing homelessness in Harlow.
Housebuilder The Hill Group, in collaboration with Harlow Council, is delivering eight purpose-built SoloHaus homes to address urgent housing needs.
The initiative is part of the Harlow Regeneration Partnership LLP, a joint venture between The Hill Group and Harlow Council, established to revitalise the town centre and deliver much-needed housing.
SoloHaus homes are innovative, low-cost modular units designed specifically to support vulnerable residents. Each home comes fully furnished and equipped, including a fitted kitchen and essential appliances, offering a safe and welcoming environment for single occupants before they transition to more permanent housing.
In addition to being ready-to-live-in, the SoloHaus units are energy-efficient, exceeding building regulations for heat and sound insulation. This ensures lower running costs compared to traditional temporary accommodations, providing an affordable solution for both residents and local authorities.
The Harlow Regeneration Partnership, launched in June 2023, has been hailed as a transformative opportunity for the town. The partnership is focusing on regenerating council-owned and other sites, creating high-quality homes and breathing new life into the town centre.
Andy Hill OBE, founder and Group Chief Executive of The Hill Group commented: "We're excited to begin work on the deployment of these SoloHaus homes, which will offer essential housing for vulnerable individuals seeking a safe and supportive environment to rebuild their lives. Our regeneration partnership with Harlow Council continues to grow as we take on new projects across the town, and we’re eager to keep working toward a brighter future for the local community."
