Persimmon Homes West Wales has recently handed over the keys to 20 new homes for affordable rent to Valleys to Coast, a local housing association, at its Michaels Grove and Morgans Walk sites in Llanharan.
The homes, 14 at Michaels Grove and six at Morgans Walk, will help ease pressure on local housing waiting lists in South Wales.
The transfer of the properties was marked by a visit from Cllr Mark Norris, Cabinet Member for Planning at Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, who joined representatives from Persimmon Homes and Valleys to Coast on-site. The development is located near the Persimmon Academy in Llanilid, a collaborative initiative with Bridgend College, where local apprentices gain hands-on experience in construction.
The Llanharan development, which will eventually feature 1,000 new homes, is part of a larger project that also includes a new primary school and a village centre with leisure, retail, and community facilities. As the development progresses, hundreds of properties will be handed over to housing associations like Valleys to Coast, contributing to the local community's long-term housing needs.
This handover comes shortly after the Site Manager and his team at Michaels Grove received a prestigious 'Pride in the Job Quality Award' for their exceptional work on the development. The Quality Award is a highly regarded accolade within the homebuilding industry, recognising outstanding performance and quality by site managers.
