Kier Completes Work On Grosvenor Street In Mayfair

Construction firm Kier has completed work on 80 Grosvenor Street in Mayfair and has handed the keys over to Frelene (Grosvenor Street) Ltd.

The new building provides 17,500 sq. ft state of the art office and retail accommodation over five floors and includes private terraces with panoramic views and luxurious contemporary spa style amenities.

The front façade on Grosvenor Street was constructed primarily from reclaimed Suffolk White bricks which were selected to match the original façade. Over 20,000 of these bricks were sourced from an architectural salvage specialist based in Suffolk.

Internally, the project has a high quality finish. There is polished plaster, Carrara marble finishes on the walls, floors and vanity units and Bill Amberg leather-lined walls in the lifts, with bespoke stainless steel handrails and integrated mirrors. The building has been designed with the end user in mind. The lift from reception can be called without physically touching a button, allowing visitors to access the floors without touching a lot of surfaces. There are also cycle storage facilities, a cycle repair centre and a changing room that has a spa like feel.

The project has an extremely tight footprint and shares party walls on three sides which required complex coordination. Revid 3D and BIM modelling were used to aid discussions and planning sessions. The project team also had to develop their temporary works around two live Thames sewers, which runs directly underneath the site, to ensure that no movement occurred.

David McKenzie, Managing Director at Kier Regional Building London, South and Strategic Projects, said: "We are delighted to hand over 80 Grosvenor Street to Frelene Ltd. This project highlights our capabilities of delivering for our private sector clients. It showcases the capability of our experienced team and supply chain in delivering projects with a tight footprint in Central London.

"This milestone is testament to all the key stakeholders’ commitment to collaboration and precision to ensure that all expectations could be met during a very challenging COVID-19 period."
