Recent government statistics have revealed that over 260,000 affordable homes have been delivered since April 2010.
The figures show that nearly 60,000 properties were delivered in the last year alone, a 63% rise from the previous year.
The 2011 to 2015 Affordable Homes Programme has so far built nearly 186,000 properties since April 2011.
The programme includes social rented homes, affordable rented homes and affordable home ownership schemes
Housing Minister Brandon Lewis said work had already started on delivering a further 275,000 homes with £38 billion public and private investment for the scheme in the next five years.
Council areas that have seen some of the biggest numbers of affordable homes delivered since 2010, include:
• Cornwall – 3,750
• Birmingham – 3,460
• Wiltshire – 3,420
• Leeds – 2,360
• Liverpool – 2,270
• Manchester – 2,160
Nearly a third of affordable homes delivered last year were in London.
