Construction News Image
Eco insulate, a new company set up by experienced Scottish business man and entrepreneur Bryan Woods, will offer improved airtight spray foam insulation to the Scottish residential and commercial markets.

Bryan Woods, together with his team headed up by Colin Davidson, will initially target the self build bespoke timber frame kit market. The company is anticipating rapid expansion as changes to the building standards and sustainability requirements make developers and specifiers look at new products to address energy conservation issues.

Eco Insulate will be using Icynene water blown soft foam insulation, which is the fastest growing insulation material in the world today and contains no harmful emissions. Icynene has been used in over 200,000 healthy, environmentally-friendly and energy efficient building projects across the world.

Managing Director Bryan Woods said: "Our team has a wealth of experience in the building and construction industry and has a highly responsible approach to all projects no matter the size and duration.

"We are very pleased to be working with Icynene whose water blown soft foam is a proven pathway to improving energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions in buildings. Icynene is sprayed as a liquid and expands to 100 times its volume in seconds to fill every crack and crevice while remaining flexible so that the integrity of the building envelope seal remains intact over time. It is a recognised Green insulation product combining an air barrier with insulation to reduce energy costs by as much as 50 per cent.

"Eco Insulate will operate throughout Scotland from its base near Lockerbie and also provides a Thermal Imaging service through its associated company Thermal Image Surveys Ltd. Insulation work will be carried out by fully trained spray teams comprising at least two people operating from a self contained spray rig."

"We are delighted eco Insulate has joined the Icynene dealer network in the UK," commented Icynene vice president, international Jeff Hood. "We envisage that eco Insulate, fully supported by their distributor GMS Renewables, will follow other Icynene contractors by servicing residential homes, NHS trusts and public buildings such as museums and leisure centres. They will also be able to assist Registered Social landlords in Scotland meet the requirements of the Scottish Housing Quality Standards by 2015."
