China's Contracting Giant Receives Award

Construction News Image
Yi Jun President of the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has been awarded the 'Presidents Medal' by the Chartered Institute of Building's (CIOB) own President Professor Li Shirong.

Speaking about the award CIOB President Li said: "Yi Jun is a remarkable man, he has moved very quickly to one of the top jobs in the Chinese construction industry and all at a very young age.

"Indeed CSCEC, of which he is President, is listed at number 6 of the top 225 international contractors in the world. One of his first tasks as President was to move the company from a state owned corporation into a share holding company in the Shanghai stock exchange. This he has done successfully and the future of the company is now secured as a PLC.

"Whilst he has been leading CSCEC the company has undertaken a number of major projects. Recently they had very significant involvement in the Beijing Olympic Games and undertook 40% of the construction work. They are also responsible for the iconic China State Television’s HQ in Beijing – and many other projects too."

The President's medal is presented each year at the CIOB Annual Dinner in London's Guildhall for outstanding contribution by an individual.
