Students Prepare For Careers In The Construction Sector

GB Building Solutions and Leeds Beckett University have teamed up to give students access to a range of work placements to prepare them for their careers in the construction sector.

The formal partnership was signed at an event held at Broadcasting Place by Dr Andrew Platten, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Environment and Technology at Leeds Beckett University and Steve Longhurst, National Framework Development Manager at GB Building Solutions.

GB Building Solutions are currently undertaking the construction of the £32m, 206-bedroom, 14-storey Hilton Leeds Arena hotel development adjacent to Leeds Beckett's Rose Bowl.

Dr Platten said: "This is already an active partnership where our students are gaining access to the new Hilton Leeds Arena hotel development which is adjacent to the University City campus.

"Activities such as this are underpinned by academic teaching in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying, providing career development opportunities for our students during and after their studies and supporting their professional development."
