Blackpool Council has launched its 'Ready To Switch?' scheme for residents to save money on their energy bills.
Ready to Switch? is a collective energy switching scheme which combines residents’ buying power to negotiate cheaper energy prices.
Rather than switching providers and reducing bills as individuals, residents can register an interest in this scheme at www.readytoswitch.co.uk and potentially save as a big group.
Registrations from all participating local authority areas will be grouped anonymously and energy suppliers will bid for the right to offer their tariff to the group.
The most competitive deal will be selected and households will receive a personalised energy offer.
Cllr Fred Jackson, Blackpool Council's cabinet member for urban regeneration, said: "Ready to Switch? is a scheme that has helped already helped hundreds of Blackpool residents save money on their energy bills.
"The more people sign up, the bigger the potential savings are, so I would urge people to give it a go now and let their friends and family know."
