Construction News Image
A new £6.5 million construction training centre is to be built in Swansea.

The Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC) will deliver a mixture of training courses and services for those who want to develop a career in the industry. Completion is scheduled for autumn 2018.

The new CWIC will help grow the industry, especially with a number of infrastructure projects due to be developed over the next five years in Wales.

The Welsh sector is anticipated to grow nearly four times faster than the UK average in the future, with over 27,000 jobs set to be created by 2022.

Guy Leach, Wales' chair of the National Federation of Builders and Managing Director at building contractor Knox & Wells, said: "Apprenticeships are an investment into the industry, not just in Knox & Wells. The new CWIC development will provide a huge platform for attracting students and young people into an exciting and innovative career. I hope that other companies are as forward looking, and I will continue to support more students into the construction industry."
