If you have a transport operator’s license, your vehicles must undergo a Preventative Maintenance Inspection or a PMI. This legal inspection is designed to ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy and safe to use. Your PMI must be undertaken:

• As and when you have agreed to do so as part of your operator’s license.
• At least every 6-12 weeks (or 6-8 weeks if the vehicle is used regularly).
• As part of a frequently monitored pre-planned system according to your vehicle’s:
• Age and type.
• Load, equipment and fittings.
• Type and range of operations.
• The environment it operates in.
• The distance, speed and journey times undertaken.
