I obtained Joe's details from one of our gym members via a word-of-mouth recommendation; having tried and failed repeatedly to make progress as a new business with both high street banks and (so called) small business lenders.

Despite having sustained cashflow and great growth forecasts, it seemed two years trading history alone was not sufficient to borrow and left me disillusioned. I was seeking a full MBO of the business that I built and managed solo, with some nuanced technical complications. However, most conventional avenues were exhausted before I could even get to explaining this level of detail.

My optimism was reignited after my first phone call with Joe which he kindly facilitated for approximately 45 minutes, enabling me to explain the prologue to an MBO and my personal status quo. With a working understanding of my circumstances, Joe took the initiative and structured in a legible and linear format what was required of me. Simultaneously, he also investigating my available options and negotiated accordingly in the background. Joe visited myself and the business in person on more than one occasion which was greatly appreciated and gave me the opportunity to help him visualise my intentions.

I was initially looking to secure £30K for the full MBO but was encouraged by Joe to go for a higher figure (£75K) to allow for £45K for business development. This was exactly the kind of pressure I needed. Joe is as much a mentor and consultant as he is a broker. He rationalised each stage within the plan and answered questions coherently, managing any fear/doubt that started brewing throughout the entire process.

We are now looking, at minimum, doubling our PNL as we enter our third year with the loan already paying for itself - precisely because of the additional funds dedicated to business development. I will be a returning customer to Joe in the future and hope this review will too be considered a worthy and fruitful word-of-mouth recommendation.
