I was recommended Sean Wilkin by Apollo Blinds, and he was available almost immediately—now I understand why.
Sean agreed to sand and paint all walls in my living room, kitchen, and hallway, as well as fill, sand, and paint all woodwork with one undercoat and two topcoats.
Despite multiple requests to cover furniture and the bits I gathered in the middle of rooms, he did not do so—likely because he knew that no actual sanding would be done.
On the first day, he claimed to have spent half the time sanding walls, yet there was no visible evidence of sanding on the walls or uncovered furniture. Over three days, only the most basic work on the walls was completed, leading me to suspect he worked no more than two hours per day.
Sean left all woodwork—including doors—until the fourth day, stating he would complete it in just a couple of hours. I worked from home that day to observe, and I quickly noticed he did not fill imperfections properly, nor did he sand the surfaces. Instead of applying the agreed undercoat and two layers of paint, he painted only one coat and falsely claimed to have done two. When questioned, he insisted the paint did not need drying time and that I had simply not seen him work.
Despite my efforts to point out unfinished areas, his corrections were rushed and poorly done. Light switches were misaligned to conceal imperfections, old paint was visible around hinges, and streaks and bumps in the wall paint were everywhere. Believing he would return to complete the work, I paid £1,115 out of £1,215, keeping back £130—but he has since ignored my messages and failed to return.
While Sean is polite and even-tempered, his dishonesty, lack of effort, and poor workmanship mean I cannot recommend Sean to anyone.
