Coir Matting
Coir matting makes use of coir, which is coconut fibre that is extracted from the husk of coconut. It is used in many different applications, but here at Flooring Direct we are concerned with its use for creating floor mats and tiles.

We make use of red coir, whereby large amounts of the coconut fibre are woven in heavy looms, before being cut up into the required size, and lastly bound round the edges by a type of rope made of the same material. Alternatively, it can also be made by arranging alternate layers in sinuous and straight paths, which are afterwards stitched together.
