Residential Buildings
  • Noise and vibration from construction works
  • Noise created by the residential development
  • Existing noise levels affecting future habitants of the residential development
  • Noise impact caused by plant and equipment associated with the development

Industrial and plant noise assessments
Noise from industrial premises has the potential to cause disturbance to nearby noise sensitive locations leading to complaints. A noise survey and assessment in normally required at the planning stage; however the addition of new machinery and processes can often require an updated assessment. For industrial premises a survey and assessment is normally carried out in accordance with British Standard 4142: ‘Method for rating industrial noise affecting mixed residential and industrial areas’.

Control of Noise at Work Regulations
Aran Acoustics can come to your workplace to carry out a noise assessment for the Control of Noise at Work Regulations. The purpose of the Noise Regulations 2005 is to make sure that people working in high noise level environments do not suffer damage to their hearing.

The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 require employers to prevent or reduce risks to health and safety from exposure to noise at work. Employees have duties under the Regulations too. The Regulations require employers carry out the following:
  • Assess the risks to your employees from noise at work
  • Take action to reduce the noise exposure that produces those risks
  • Provide your employees with hearing protection if you cannot reduce the noise exposure enough by using other methods
  • Make sure the legal limits on noise exposure are not exceeded
  • Provide your employees with information, instruction and training
  • Carry out health surveillance where there is a risk to health

Acoustics for Offices and Commercial Premises
Aran Acoustics provide acoustic design advice for Offices and other Commercial premises. Noise and Acoustic control within commercial premises covers a very wide spectrum. Commercial premises include Hospitality Premises, Retail Units, Cinemas, Leisure Facilities, Offices and Industrial Units.

Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities
Aran Acoustics provide guidance to Architects, Design Teams and Building Contractors on the acoustic design of Hospitals and Healthcare facilities.

Acoustic design is fundamental to the quality of healthcare buildings. Sound affects us both physiologically and psychologically. Noise, which can be defined as “unwanted sound”, can have a negative effect on our well-being. Pleasing sounds help create a sense of well-being. Music can be used to treat depression, to reach autistic people and to calm and relax tense patients.

Acoustics in Schools and Educational Buildings
  • Internal ambient noise levels in unoccupied spaces
  • Airborne sound insulation between spaces
  • Impact sound insulation of floors
  • Reverberation in teaching and study spaces
  • Reverberation and acoustic absorption in sports halls
  • Speech intelligibility in open plan teaching spaces
