The Tourand Creek Bridge south of Winnipeg on highway 59 has been selected as the first of its kind to undergo an innovative strengthening technique developed by ISIS Canada. Upon completion, this 39-year-old structure will be at least 30 percent stronger. Manitoba Highways and Government Services has committed $110,000 to test the new technology, anticipating it will be suitable for extending the service life of similar bridges. read more

Problem – Water ingress via. the studs, has decayed the hardwood timber beam, general wear and tear caused the lower edge of the beam to decay.
The remedy – The decayed timber was cut away, new oak was cut to size and bonded in place with Rotafix Structural Adhesive. Rotafix Structural Adhesive was injected into inaccessible areas, to ensure that voids were completely filled. read more

The repair was carried out in two phases to reduce the temporary works. Shear connectors were fitted into slots in the side of the beam. ROTAFIX TG6 was poured via. a hopper system into the steel shoe, this system will ensure that any water that enters the shoe in the future will not effect the timber beam. read more
