We have been manufacturing specialist industrial coatings for over 160 years. We are a small independent company operating from purpose built premises close to the Midlands motorway network, affording excellent access to companies across the UK.

We specialise in the manufacture of bespoke products tailored to suit our client’s specific working environment and can produce paints suitable for a full range of spray systems as well as for dipping, brushing and roller applications.

Our core product range covers paint for the protection and decoration of steel substrates and fabrications. Additionally we have coatings which have excellent adhesion properties to aluminium, galvanised steel, concrete, plastic, wood and glass.

Air Drying Paints & Primers
Air drying alkyd paints are coatings which produce a tough durable finish when applied to suitably prepared substrates. Drying primarily occurs from the evaporation of the carrier solvent, this is followed by a cross linking of the internal structure of the paint system.

We produce a broad range of alkyd or oil-based paints combining premium grade resins with high quality pigments and other additives to create a wide spectrum of stock and customer specific paints.

Specialist Paints
At H S Richards we purchase high quality resins, pigments and specialist additives from leading chemical manufacturers.

This provides us with the flexibility to formulate and manufacture a wide spectrum of paint finishes. We have the expertise and knowledge to make recommendations for your paint system to improve efficiency, reduce emission levels or simply to reduce costs.

Eco Friendly
Continuing pressures on paint users and tighter legislation from local authorities has accelerated the need to produce high quality water-based coatings. At H.S.Richards we have an extensive range of products suitable for many applications, with being supplied into the automotive, industrial and environmental sectors. Please look at our products and call us if you require recommendations for alternatives to existing solvent based paint systems, and we can arrange for a visit to your site or discuss your options over the phone.

Stoving Enamels & Paints
Stoving enamels provide extremely hard paint finishes suitable for application onto metallic substrates where a more durable coating is required. The applied coat requires curing at elevated temperatures of between 130°C and 180°C to produce optimum performance.

After stoving, the component can be packaged or moved immediately after cooling. Our stoving systems are available to order in a broad range of RAL, BS4800 and BS381C shades as well as to customers own specification.

At H S Richards we pride ourselves on our ability to produce bespoke products tailor made to suit our customer needs. We also carry a comprehensive range of paints in stock ready for immediate delivery or despatch.
