After contracting a competent builder, I realised how poor the quality Alan’s workmanship was and how many shortcuts he took. Basically, the work he did in my property needed redoing in many parts.

He kept moving the goalpost to be able to overcharge me on made-up grounds (even though in some cases I had written evidence and/or witnesses corroborating my version).

Suddenly, he decided to show up on weekends only, which forced me to live at a temp accommodation for almost 7 months, given the state of my house. It took him 10 months for something he said would take him 4 months, and he had to be constantly chased up. Even when he came for the last time, he left some bits unfinished.

He never issued a single invoice.

Last not least, he bullied me throughout the whole process as a way of retaliation – as a pathological attention seeker, he reckoned that I wasn’t flattering him and appreciating his work enough. Silly me, thinking that all is required of a customer are timely payments and politeness!

In my experience, he will underdeliver and overcharge you – avoid his company.
