About Best Cellars (NW) Ltd

Basement Conversions Manchester, Stockport, Warrington, Didsbury, Knutsford and all North West

Best Cellars (nw) Ltd is a small basement and cellar conversion company owned and run by Roy Nesbitt. Best Cellars was started at the beginning of 2005.

We are a company that specialise in waterproofing and converting damp basements and cellars into dry usable space which can be used in a variety of different ways from bedrooms to storage areas, from home offices to kitchens.

We provide a bespoke package which will cater for your individual circumstance, we can provide a cost effective basic waterproofing package or we can provide a full package that will include all work including electrics, plumbing, plastering, flooring, decoration etc.

Best Cellars aim to provide an excellent professional conversion carried out to the highest of standards at a realistic price.

Six steps to your basement dreams.
  1. Initial visit and assessment of basement.
  2. Provide price of work and full written specification.
  3. Second visit (if you wish to proceed with the work) to discuss any changes in the specification, any structural issues or any general questions you may have.
  4. The final report and fixed price quotation will be produced along with a floor plan of your basement indicating any fittings, lighting, socket and radiator layouts etc.
  5. Acceptance of quotation and set a start date.
  6. Creation of your basement dream.

Basements are fast becoming as popular as an extension. In some parts of country, stamp duty can be significant, add that to moving costs and the price of a larger home.

It has now become more financially beneficial to convert an existing basement rather than move home.

The great advantage with basements is that they not only add a whole new floor, it's also space that can be used in many different ways. With a loft extension, the space is so far from the living areas that it can only really be used for bedrooms, studies or bathrooms. With the demands of modern lifestyles, basements are increasingly being turned into leisure areas with home cinemas, pool and table tennis tables, home gyms or even swimming pools. You can also create an independent entrance or exit out into the back garden from the basement.

A basement creates a lot of extra space, which can be used for absolutely anything – it also frees up the rest of the house to use in different ways .

For example, many people put a utility room, shower and toilet in their basement, irrespective of what else they have planned for the space. Whether you are converting an existing damp dark basement into extra living space or the waterproofing in your basement is failing, Best Cellars are the specialists you need to get the job done to your satisfaction.

Unfortunately adding another negative review to the other one already on here. Can only recommend that anyone after a basement conversion avoid this company at all costs! Substandard work, uses the cheapest of materials and will do anything to cut corners at every stage! We asked this company to stop work after the basement was plaster boarded as couldn’t deal with their lack of professionalism and shoddy work any longer. The owner and director of the company Roy Nesbitt refuses to take calls, answer messages or emails and even letters addressed to him at his home address and his accountants address. This company is the blueprint of how not to run your business and treat your clients!

My experience with best cellars was less than successful. Inadequate unsafe electrical works, inadequate sized back up pump that has been replaced at my cost as Roy will not answer calls and the 10 year warranty is not worth a jot. A non return valve was not fitted which meant the tank kept refilling with the water already pumped out, there was only 1 cleaning trap installed for a huge cellar, 3 more have now been installed at my cost. In essence the works cost over £12,000 initially, further costs have been £2,000 to rectify the faults with a reputable company, who we now use for yearly service as Roy will not uphold the 10 year warranty or yearly service. Do not use this company.
