Mark Walmsley Roofing

What can I say about mr mark walmsley. Well I have had previous work done on my house by him which was done to a satisfactory manner. Then I needed a new roof on my dormer bungalow and, of course I called mr walmsley to do the work. We agreed on a price but no date was set. When he did do the work he asked for some money in cash and the balance as a bank transfer (questionable practice). Anyway the work was completed and it looked fine to me. I’m a female pensioner who lives alone and not a qualified roofer. After a few months I noticed the wall in the dormer bedroom was a bit damp, so I called mr walmsley to take a look. He did some remedial work and I thought that the problem was solved. Until a few months later water started coming into a downstairs bedroom. I thought it was a burst pipe and called the insurers. The surveyor came and took videos which showed the fault was with the roofer and not an insurance claim. He advised me to call mr walmsley back to fix the job. Needless to say I called, left messages, even got my son to call him but to no avail. After weeks of trying to contact him my son got hold of him and he was quick to say that he had been away on holiday with his girlfriend (no doubt using the cash I gave him). He told my son he would come and take a look. Again he did not show up. I was now getting desperate to get the roof fixed as I was going away and did not want to leave my house in a poor state. I had to call another roofer. He was great, he came straight away and found the problem. He stated he knew of mark walmsley and was not very complementary. The new roofer found that mr walmsley had not put felt/insulation under the slates of the new roofer and there were a few broken slates. How can this be possible?? How can a so called qualified roofer not put a membrane under a new roof and use broken tiles?? I gave mr walmsley my money in good faith and it has cost me dearly. I now had to fork out a few more thousands to rectify mr walmsleys shoddy mistakes. Please please be warned stay away from this man. He cuts corners, takes your money, goes on frequent holidays, becomes uncontactable and leaves vulnerable pensioners out of pocket.
