Canal Engineering Ltd is a stainless steel metalwork company based in Nottingham.

At Canal Engineering lies a heritage of design innovation, quality manufacture and efficient installation of that stretches back to its formation in 1924. Today, separate divisions for Architectural Metalwork and Fabrication, Aspen Stainless and Ajax Safe Access Systems, each have a wealth of experience that presently resides in the management and skilled workforce, which is a rare and much valued resource in today's industry.

CANAL: Architectural Metalwork and Fabrication

For 15 years architectural metalwork has been at the heart of Canal Engineering’s business.

Many Canal projects are for staircases and balustrade, but their experience extends to all aspects of architectural metalwork including;
  • Canopies
  • Balconies
  • Bespoke railings
  • Sculptures

Staircases can be produced in straight, spiral or helical form. All are fabricated to bespoke design criteria, catering for a true one-off requirement. Glass, mesh, perforated sheet, tension cables and laser cut sheet infills can be specified and other materials may also be available on request. Top rails can be stainless steel, mild steel, timber, polyester or nylon coated. Canal can also provide thermoplastic polymer alloy coating, conforming to UK Building Regulations.

Canal Engineering has enjoyed a close working relationship with the food industry for over 25 years.

Our production facilities include state of the art design and manufacturing equipment and large undercover development and assembly facilities. All stainless steel drainage materials used in the manufacture of items of the Aspen Range conform to Euro norms EN10088: Part 2: 1995

AJAX: Safety Access Systems

Ajax has over 45 years of experience in high level safe access systems.

The range of safety access systems have a well proven track record for being both reliable and easy to operate; the most important factors in any safety equipment.

The Righthite tanker access steps are a world leader with units regularly being supplied to countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.

The range of equipment developed for tanker access and high level loading help eliminate the hazard of falls from height; the most common cause of injury in the workplace.

The range extends to the safety barrier systems that provide all-round edge protection to prevent injury to pallet truck operatives and other personnel when loading or unloading pallets onto low/high level floor openings.
