These will effectively 'take-on the existing CFL and halogen products'. Remote phosphor modules are said to be a crucial element in the development.

These are an array of LEDs that sit below a phosphored panel where the individual LEDs are not actually visible.
A range of such modules is being marketed in the UK, with luminaire makers such as High Technology Lighting supplying leading companies like Midlands-based Premier Lighting.
Industry experts say that advantages are many, with both efficacy and long life assured.
Around 50,000 hours is being touted as a realistic 'life' for lights, as opposed to around 4,000 for halogen units, with obvious savings in replacements quickly outweighing the cost of installation.
