Construction News Image
Work is underway to rebuild a school in north Lincolnshire.

Baysgarth School is one of eight schools across north and north-east Lincolnshire to be rebuilt under the Government's £4.4bn priority school building programme (PSBP).

The £13.8m project, being developed by Galliford Try, includes replacing the school's two buildings with a new two-storey facility.

Other features include a new sports village containing a skate park and modern changing facilities.

The local council has provided £670,000 towards the scheme.

Work on the main building of the school is due for completion by January 2017.

Schools Minister Lord Nash said: "The start of construction at Baysgarth School is a key milestone for the priority school building programme in north and north-east Lincolnshire."

Jon Marston of Galliford Try added: "We are delighted to have started construction works on site after many months working with the school and the Education Funding Agency (EFA) designing and planning the project.

"This planning has allowed us to carry out significant enabling works over the summer holidays and the new school will now begin construction for completion in January 2017."

A total of 537 schools will benefit from construction through the two phases of the PSBP.
