Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College, which educates 1,200 pupils, has been built by Willmott Dixon Construction on the former Long Lane council depot in Fazakerley.
It is part of the Liverpool Schools Investment Programme, devised as a rescue package following the scrapping by the Government of Wave Six of Liverpool's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) project.

The new school is environmentally friendly with a solar panel roof to generate electricity and also features a sports hall with six courts, a 3G pitch, a theatre and recording and dance studios.
Around 70 percent of the project budget has been spent with firms in Liverpool city region, including contracts for mechanical and electrical engineering, tiling, fencing, joinery, painting and decorating.
