Capital Lag Behind In Energy Savings

Londoners are the least likely in the UK to change their energy supplier and could be missing out on hundreds of pounds worth of savings, according to Which? Switch.

Which? Switch found that under half of the Londoners surveyed had switched energy supplier, compared with seven in ten people in the North East.

Ruth Duffy from East London found she could save £210 by switching energy supplier.

She said: "I was delighted when I realised how much money I could save by switching energy supplier. The whole process was easier than I expected and now I can get on with my Christmas shopping with a clear conscience."

Consumers in the South West and West Midlands were also less likely to have switched.

People can expect to receive the largest bill of the year after the Christmas period, so now is a good time for Londoners to assess their energy options. Alison Morrison, Which? Switch, said: "People don’t need to wait until the New Year to start their money-makeover, they can take the first steps now and catch up with the rest of the UK.

"Our customers in London saved on average £294 a year. You could benefit too and have a few extra pounds in your pocket just in time for Christmas."
