Henry Boots Reports 22% Rise In Profits

Henry Boot Construction has reported a 22% rise in profits for its results for the year ended 31st December 2016.

With revenue also increasing 74% to £306.8 million (2015: £176.2m) and profits up to £39.5m (2015: £32.4m), Chief Executive Officer John Sutcliffe said the company has delivered "yet another strong operational performance".

Operating profit in the construction division rose to £10.3m from £8.9m in 2015, while revenue dipped to £84.4m (2015: £90.6m).

During 2016, the company developed over 875,000 sq ft of new, pre-let and pre-sold, largely industrial space and agreed terms on a further two million sq ft, most of which is expected to start or be completed in 2017.

Overall revenue was drive mostly by the company's property investment and development arm.

Mr Sutcliffe said: "In my first business review since taking over as Chief Executive Officer on 1 January 2016, I am very pleased to report that Henry Boot PLC has delivered yet another strong operational performance, financial result and earnings per share growth of 23%.

"Our strategy and the Company organisation remains unchanged, as do the key metrics by which we manage and monitor our business segments. 2017 has started well in all our businesses and we confidently look forward to a year of further progress."
