The design for Siemens' office main entrance at the new wind turbine factory in Hull incorporated Sustainable Drainage (SuDS). Permeable 'Flexipave' surfacing, with large areas of planting and trees.

2B have planned and supervised the HLF-funded restoration of the large historic rock garden at Burnby Hall Gardens and Museum in Pocklington.

A sustainable drainage masterplan for a new housing development on a flood-prone site. Swales and detention basins provide added aesthetic, biodiversity, amenity and wellbeing benefits as well.

The rain garden planters at Hebden Bridge Town Hall will slow the flow of rainwater into the drainage system, helping to reduce the potential for combined sewer flooding and improving the quality of water in the river.

We carried out an individual ZTV for each wind turbine of the 24 wind turbine park in Greece. The individual ZTVs were then collated to create one visual that showed the Zone of Theoretical Visibility for the wind park (map on the right).

The great thing about running a contract is that you get to go from an exciting proposal to the reality of an operational trail. These steps were drawn for the construction contractors.

A domestic garden re-design. The previous conrete and lawn garden was transformed into a garden with seasonal interest, raised planters, smooth resin bound surface, a patio and a planted trellis.

This ZTV covered a length of railway line from Reading to Bristol, using large scale terrain mapping and combining around 1600 individual ZTVs to create a 'heat-map'.

We modelled options for alterations to the Overhead Line Electrics that Network Rail and partners suggested in a workshop. The models help us to understand the extent of the landscape and visual impact in this sensitive AONB location.

The planting scheme for a University's new Halls of Residence is designed to be robust and attractive all year round.

The original designs for the planting scheme featured sustainable drainage (SuDS) solutions. The Quantity Surveyor calculated that if the SuDS interventions were implemented, it could have saved the client over £100k.

Plants were carefully considered to provide safe and calming courtyard spaces at a Learning Disability Unit. Species had withstand rough treatment and offer no danger in case of ingestion.

Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments and Appraisals (LVIA) evaluate the effect of a proposal upon the landscape. They consider visual effects (human view) and the landscape effects (occur regardless even if you can’t see them).

We used panoramic photography to directly show intervisibility of a straw buring power station. These views supported the written cumulative impact assessment.

2B's masterplan for a primary school provides a framework for an inspiring school setting and a landscape for learning.

Combining Calderdale Council’s aspirations with our assessment, we developed high level strategic masterplans aimed at guiding development and restoration work within Sowerby Bridge.

The next level master plan took the proposals to RIBA Stage 2, a more detailed, but still conceptual consideration of how the high-level ideas might be developed at particular sites.

Re-orientating the space to address the canal, as well as the main road, punctuated the linearity of the A58 corridor, and reclaimed pedestrian and cycle priority.

Concept sketches show how features like pedestrian crossings would work with different layouts.

A 'bare-earth' Zone of Theoretical Visibility (ZTV) for a mixed use development on Ashbourne Airfield in Derbyshire.

This project is part of a wider initiative spreading information to help us all understand how urban Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) can play a part in flood alleviation and how we can all do our bit.

The photomontage shows a deep cutting into the landscape for the road. The highway earthworks are softened with planting - this was indicative of ten year's growth on the highway verge.

Following a rigorous competitve tender process, Better Barrow Community Group unanimously voted for 2B as their chosen design team. A series of workshops with the community helped to inform the design.

3D modelling, as used in this design, assists in the design process, helping understand and explain proposals. Rendering and use of shadows gives a very good impression of what the design proposal might look like.

Flintshire Council appointed Local Transport Projects to develop a cycleway. By using the plans provided, 2B created a simple line graphic to help explain and visualise how the cycleway would cross the busy road.

The aim was remove the vehicle-dominated environment, to create a space which would allow for flexible events use, and an animated, attractive, and user-friendly public realm on non-events days.

The draft proposal for Hebden Bridge Town Hall courtyard, diverting the downpipes around its edge into rain garden planters. The central space is left clear for events.

2B were appointed to help design and manage the installation of a heritage trail on Victoria Dock in Hull.3D drawings clearly explained the design intention to planners, consultees, contractor and clients.
